On the call: Andrew Fitz Gibbon, Joel Morrissette, Johan Berntsson, John Hengeveld, Mic Bowman, Tom Murphy, Wilf Pinfold
Next senate meeting: Feb 20, 2009 in SciSim at Kepler (193, 191, 45)
Inworld transcript from Keplar:
Software Mainland requirements
goal is to put minimal burden on mainland server
clear that things like security fixes need to be done immediately
issues currently facing us
Mic is seeking a new stable release to incorporate some security fixes
Joel is working on audio and documenting process/problems in adding a new server to the mainland
Fitz is building AMD 64 bit server to demonstrate Johan's molecules
The ScienceSim infrastructure portion has been very stable
namely the five services ScieneSim provides to sciensim servers: user, grid, asset, inventory, and messaging services
we need a Senate Opensim Software Foundation Committee
SVN
It is hard to craft the right dependencies to provide both a 32 bit and 64 bit debian package repository
build from source is recommended
Long term this is a “good thing” to provide Scienesim servers
Short term, lets stay with 32 bit
Joel will be using one of his blades to start crafting a 64 bit debian package repository
Audio
Johan is close to having a 3Di version of audio working for ScienceSim. This version is not currently targete to be a general part of OpenSim
Mic suggested another possibility might be to create a Skype opject in the room that would serve up a Skpe session in a sererate window
sounds like spacial voice will be a ways off

SLURLs
I just realized the need for SLURLS and for us using many different browsers
I am using the SL browser on Mac and got caught in TPing to Newton
I saw myself in Kepler and everyone else saw me in Newton
I TPed to Yellowstone to try to clear things out since TPing to Newton or Kepler was failing
The connection crashed in Yellowstone and every attempt to get back failed because server was reported to be down
I needed a SLURL or some other mechanism to be able to TP at browser startup to a place other than where you last were
This will be particularly valuable when the last place you were was on a server that will be down for a awhile
