Voice

• Joel is still slogging through getting the Asterisk server and SL voice to play well with each other. Thanks for all the work Joel.
• Mic set up a trial High Def Conferencing (https://www.hidefconferencing.com:443/) capability at the classroom in Galileo (181, 181, 32).
  • I tried it using Skype later in the day with Mic and it has luscious sound.
  • The free 30 day trial supports 10 dial in lines and unlimited Skype.
  • The $40/mo allows for unlimited Skype and up to 10 toll-free callers using up to 500 min/mo
  • I think it will be a useful till we have Joel's voice.

Galileo classroom

• besides the prim in the center of the space endowed with High Def conferencing, there are other goodies Mic set up.
• One is a powerpoint screen. I tested this out with my MPI basics presentation. You have to convert your presentation to jpg and create a control file.

• I am still tuning mine, jpg resolution and size

Periodic Mono Crash

• only on physics plazas, which house up to 25,000 objects
• likely bug in ODE, which handles collision detection

OpenSim release 0.6.4

• probably not critical release
• has changes to asset server

Capturing Assets for SuperComputing Portal in SL

• Second Inventory, MaxProxy and MaxPort, reiterated as possible tools
• confirmed that Second Inventory gives you a box of objects, user has 3D jigsaw problem of reconstructing them
• Jessie and Fitz (next day on Saturday) teraformed SuperComputing Portal in SL and outfitted it with what they could from Intel Island
• There is still copy/modify/transfer setting that would be great to get solved, for there are certainly more useful assets

Seminars in ScienceSim

• Google calendar to be created and will be posted in ScienceSim, announcing both these lecture series
• Science and Visualization series will start April 22st
  • Topics
    • April 22st: A tour of ScienceSim led by Mic
    • ~April 29: An intro to ExtSim led by Johan
      • Time is not verified, strong advantage
  • Useful to podcast well
• Teach Parallel starting April 21st at 10am, podcast from ScienceSim
  • Day and time are set as bimonthly series of talks moderated by Paul and I

Outstanding Issues

• Need SC09 ScienceSim paper by Johan and someone developing a Science model using ExtSim. The time fuse for this is very short: April 3rd
• need SCienceSim BOF set up for SC09
