[9:10] Doug Osborn is Online
[9:12] Robert Adams: hello Doug
[9:12] Doug Osborn: hey robert
[9:12] Robert Adams: are things working for you today?
[9:13] Doug Osborn: i seem to be sinking rather far into the chair
[9:13] Robert Adams: yes.. we did the upgrade and some things are a lot better (CPU usage, memory usage) but there are some rough edges
[9:13] Doug Osborn: OO its amazingly better
[9:13] Robert Adams: that seems to be one
[9:13] Doug Osborn: :)
[9:14] Robert Adams: yes, we got rid of a lot of non-scaling code
[9:14] Doug Osborn: I was in awe yesterday i spent hours in the 4x4 megaregion and it was VERY stable
[9:15] Robert Adams: megaregions are going to be popular when you can build and TP anywhere
[9:15] Robert Adams: yes... this is more stable...
[9:15] Robert Adams: and it will do 40+ avatars easily
[9:15] Doug Osborn: you think so? Im hoping
[9:15] Robert Adams: do you know how many people Shenlei is thinking of for the December show?
[9:16] Doug Osborn: well we dont have a clerar idea really... we just heard yesterday that toyota is intetrerested in taking a live feed
[9:17] Doug Osborn: they have some kind of art channel thing they sponsor
[9:17] Doug Osborn: if they start to promote it we might see a LOT of folks
[9:18] Robert Adams: we're going to be testing large number of avatars this month... hopefully we can get it up to a level to support that show
[9:18] Doug Osborn: :)
[9:18] Doug Osborn: Im actually more frantic about some of the new bugs......
[9:18] Doug Osborn: my runway stopped working, and so did mu HUD based AO
[9:18] Robert Adams: script problems?
[9:19] Doug Osborn: well the "landing on a prim thing" seems to have casue my "avi-mover" script to behave oddly.
[9:19] Doug Osborn: where the avis used to walk to thier destinations now they kinda float
[9:20] Doug Osborn: and when i touch mjy HUD a second time it goes off screen and resets
[9:20] Justin Clark-Casey: hi folks
[9:20] Doug Osborn: aloha justin
[9:20] Robert Adams: hi justin... w e're talking about the current bugs
[9:20] Justin Clark-Casey: ah, there are so many :)
[9:20] Robert Adams: PS: I need to leave in 15 mins... other meetings
[9:21] Justin Clark-Casey: yeah, I should do some real work too soon
[9:21] Doug Osborn: I figured they be keeping you busy
[9:21] Robert Adams: Doug, do you have any idea what's causing the hud to misbehave?
[9:21] Doug Osborn: no i dont
[9:21] Robert Adams: I know people have looked at the landing problem
[9:22] Doug Osborn: i put a touch position detect script in a box and it works all day
[9:23] Doug Osborn: if i attach the box to my hud... the first touch reports the proper location on the surface, and then some prim attributes change and ( if it stays on screen) any other touches report as -1 locations
[9:23] Doug Osborn: its very very odd behavior
[9:23] Rob Willis is Online
[9:23] Robert Adams: have you put in a Mantis about that... sounds like a real bug
[9:23] Doug Osborn: but very much like the 3 rotation fucntions that stopped
[9:24] Doug Osborn: the rotations still there.... it just gets lost somehow in the call to the getRot() function
[9:24] Robert Adams: we have a fix for llRot... something was fixed elsewhere causing something that should never have work to stop working :)
[9:24] Doug Osborn: yes i filed a couple mantis reports in the past weeks
[9:24] Robert Adams: hello rob
[9:24] Rob Willis: morning all
[9:25] Justin Clark-Casey: Hey Rob
[9:25] Rob Willis: morning
[9:25] Doug Osborn: well I know prim rotations in SL have been borked since they mis-implemented global rotations offsets by mutiplying instead of dividing by the global rotation
[9:26] Robert Adams: we'll promote fixing the bugs that are getting in people's way... a lot of new changes were introduced and some fundimental
[9:26] Doug Osborn: but they wont fix it now becasue so many scripts ahave work arounds in them
[9:26] Rob Willis: yeah i had to fudge a pendulum due to that bug
[9:26] Robert Adams: downward compatible brokenness
[9:27] Doug Osborn: I think thats a seriously wrong approach
[9:27] Justin Clark-Casey: is that currently the case in OpenSim as well?
[9:27] Doug Osborn: casue it makes rotational problems impossible to work on unless you understand the right way will never work
[9:27] Robert Adams: it's like dates in Excel, all have a one day fudge in the output routines because the person who wrote the origional Excel though 1900 was a leap year
[9:27] Doug Osborn: I havent had to test it yet
[9:27] Rob Willis: i remember reading in jcc blog that in opensim it was fixed a few weeks back
[9:28] Robert Adams: there have been so many little fixes
[9:28] Robert Adams: Doug, do you notice the prim prioritization?
[9:28] Robert Adams: how prims arround you are delivered before ones far away?
[9:28] Justin Clark-Casey: yeah, unfortunately we don't have automated regression tests in that area, so I'm not all surprised when one fix undoes another
[9:29] Doug Osborn: Im hoping the landin one will fix the "ground friction" and make my models walk again other wise i have 3 weeks to come up with a new runways system for tour show
[9:29] Robert Adams: you think the problem is friction changed?
[9:29] Justin Clark-Casey: do you know if anyone (jhurliman) is working on the landing issue? It is rather annoying :)
[9:29] Doug Osborn: yes
[9:29] Doug Osborn: i think so
[9:30] Doug Osborn: robert im seeing no one on -line in my chat windo either
[9:30] Doug Osborn: I see you and justin here but neither of you are "logged in" according to my window
[9:30] Justin Clark-Casey: You're logged in on my contacts
[9:31] Robert Adams: min seems to be working in both places
[9:31] Robert Adams: mine work
[9:31] Doug Osborn: the chat works but the bold isnt bolding... I wonder if thats a new emerald bug
[9:31] Justin Clark-Casey: I suspect more a whoopsie in OpenSim
[9:31] Robert Adams: I'm running Meerkat
[9:32] Justin Clark-Casey: For some reason your IM's are showing up with the (Saved...) message
[9:32] Justin Clark-Casey: to me
[9:32] Doug Osborn: i just ran what the launcher gave me :)
[9:32] Robert Adams: it found something on your system :)
[9:32] Doug Osborn: lol maybe I am off line.... Justin says my IMs to him are coming marked (saved)
[9:33] Justin Clark-Casey: yep. I think something got lost in the system. Maybe a relog would fix it
[9:33] Robert Adams: you're working for me
[9:34] Doug Osborn: justin is doing his moth imitation? hovering about the flame?
[9:34] Robert Adams: I figured he was cold
[9:34] Justin Clark-Casey: sorry, I have a terrible tendency to virtually fidgit
[9:34] Doug Osborn: doesnt bother me
[9:34] Justin Clark-Casey: When I stop mucking about that probably means I'm looking at some other screen :)
[9:35] Doug Osborn: have you heard any feedback on the megaregion testing Justin???? any idea about limits on sizes yet?
[9:35] Justin Clark-Casey: doug: seems genereally positive. There is some chatter about bugs. Not seen Teravus do anything on it for a while
[9:35] Robert Adams: I need to run... talk among your selves.... I'll stay to capture the log
[9:35] Doug Osborn: or has the focus gone back to the avatar load test fixes?
[9:36] Robert Adams: bye all
[9:36] Justin Clark-Casey: doug: I think people are just glad that the damn thing has started to work properly again
[9:36] Justin Clark-Casey: bye robert
[9:36] Doug Osborn: we have a 4x4 region up now and i spent almost all day in it yesterday.... I only noticed 1 mini-map drop out for a while
[9:36] Justin Clark-Casey: jhurliman is doing a helluvalotta work, and I see lots of fixes from other Intel guys too :)
[9:36] Doug Osborn: yes
[9:37] Doug Osborn: we have a large conference scheduled on ScienceSim in about a month
[9:37] Justin Clark-Casey: yeah I saw. Is that open entry or invitation only?
[9:37] Doug Osborn: Im not sure how its going to work... Imj pretty sure its open
[9:38] Justin Clark-Casey: I thought I might drop by if I get the opportunity - I'm always interested to see how these things work out
[9:38] Doug Osborn: :)
[9:39] Doug Osborn: Its a pretty amazing sight.. the conference region is a custom design from Jon Bouchard :0
[9:39] Justin Clark-Casey: yes - he's very talented
[9:39] Justin Clark-Casey: Well, I had best be off myself. The disadvantage of being self-employed is that it 's much harder to feel that you can just slack off on a Friday :)
[9:40] Doug Osborn: lol
[9:40] Doug Osborn: must be a serious senat e meetigng
[9:40] Doug Osborn: see ya justin
[9:40] Justin Clark-Casey: bye doug, folks
[9:40] Rob Willis: i noticed my server going crazy when I browse inventory in my region
[9:40] Rob Willis: anyone else seen this?
[9:41] Justin Clark-Casey is Offline
[9:41] Doug Osborn: i had some inventory issues the other day in the mega region as well but i didnt know if it was related to the inventory server or the space
[9:42] Rob Willis: i was getting lines about old server
[9:42] Rob Willis: but they were flooding the server console
[9:43] Rob Willis: until i either left my region or quit
[9:43] Doug Osborn: i dont have the latest version installed yet
[9:44] Doug Osborn: i havent seen it
[9:44] Rob Willis: i have from sunday
[9:44] Rob Willis: i also noticed obejcts that should move stay still
[9:44] Rob Willis: however code wise they appear to be moving
[9:44] Doug Osborn: how are they supposed to "move"
[9:45] Rob Willis: it was using the rot
[9:45] Rob Willis: funny thing is visually they stuck
[9:45] Rob Willis: but listening to the movement they were moving
[9:45] Doug Osborn: yes rot seems to be disconnected from the physics scene so the objects think they are moving but they arent getting updated properly...is what i heard
[9:46] Rob Willis: another thing i noticed is that sometime land is up to my knees
[9:46] Rob Willis: im not always on top
[9:47] Doug Osborn: im seeing that a lot too
[9:47] Doug Osborn: even sitting in the chair is off
[9:47] Rob Willis: hmmm
[9:47] Rob Willis: sometimes the avatar keeps kneeling
[9:47] Rob Willis: or tripping over
[9:48] Doug Osborn: i expect that anything that involves a rrotation multiplication is seing a ZERO
[9:48] Doug Osborn: and so sit offestes arent being displayed correctly
[9:48] Rob Willis: okay
[9:48] Doug Osborn: and there is probably a hieght offset caclulated on your avi thats not returning a right result
[9:49] Rob Willis: bug or something i cna fix?
[9:49] Mic Bowman: talking about the "cannot land" problem?
[9:49] Rob Willis: not being on top of land
[9:49] Rob Willis: land up to knees
[9:49] Mic Bowman: john mentioned that there is a problem with how opensim calculates hip offset
[9:49] Mic Bowman: i don't know the status of any fixes
[9:50] Rob Willis: ok
[9:50] Mic Bowman: it isn't an easy problem to fix though...
[9:50] Mic Bowman: at least that's the current line
[9:50] Rob Willis: the other thing i saw was region console being flooded when i try to browse inventory in my region
[9:51] Doug Osborn: aloha Mic
[9:51] Mic Bowman: that one sounds like a configuration problem
[9:51] Mic Bowman: hi doug
[9:51] Rob Willis: it mentions old server in the flood
[9:52] Mic Bowman: could you send me your ini file (specifcally need to see the grid services config)?
[9:52] Mic Bowman: there are several places where you need to get the right URL
[9:53] Mic Bowman: opensim configuration is a huge mess right now...
[9:53] Doug Osborn: one of many messes it seems
[9:53] Rob Willis: grid_server_url = "http://grid.sciencesim.com:8001/"
[9:53] Rob Willis: user_server_url = "http://grid.sciencesim.com/"
[9:53] Rob Willis: asset_server_url = "http://grid.sciencesim.com:8004/"
[9:53] Rob Willis: inventory_server_url = "http://grid.sciencesim.com:8004/"
[9:53] Rob Willis: messaging_server_url = "http://grid.sciencesim.com:8006/"
[9:54] Rob Willis: for network section that is
[9:54] Mic Bowman: the grid_server_url should be 8004 also
[9:54] Mic Bowman: and what are they in the service sections?
[9:54] Mic Bowman: i should probably just post someplace the OpenSimMaster.ini that we use
[9:54] Rob Willis: under gridcommon?
[9:55] Rob Willis: under gidcommon?
[9:55] Mic Bowman: hmm... i'm not even sure where it goes any more
[9:55] Mic Bowman: hang on...
[9:56] Mic Bowman: hang on... let me see if i can just post this on the wiki somewhere[10:00] Rob Willis: btw the memory leak now is very very very small
[10:00] Rob Willis: in comparison to before :)
[10:01] Mic Bowman: http://www.sciencesim.com/wiki/doku.php/sampleconfig
[10:01] Mic Bowman: that file is basically what we use for our site master
[10:01] Mic Bowman: you obviously need to fix up ports at the top
[10:01] Mic Bowman: and i think i haven't pushed the xmlrpc fixes into it
[10:02] Mic Bowman: but the service sections at the bottom are critical
[10:02] Mic Bowman: rob: did you get that?
[10:03] Rob Willis: yep
[10:03] Rob Willis: im seeing some difference
[10:03] Rob Willis: i dont have assetloaderenabled
[10:03] Mic Bowman: the URL's down in the service section is where you should check
[10:03] Mic Bowman: obviously... some of the values are specific to our setup
[10:03] Rob Willis: ok
[10:04] Rob Willis: yeah its what i have then
[10:04] Mic Bowman: we run linux... with /share/opensim as the root directory
[10:04] Rob Willis: in my gridcommon i just have:
[10:04] Rob Willis: AssetServerURI = "http://grid.sciencesim.com:8004/"
[10:04] Rob Willis: InventoryServerURI = "http://grid.sciencesim.com:8004/"
[10:04] Rob Willis: GridServerURI = "http://grid.sciencesim.com:8004/"
[10:04] Rob Willis: AssetCaching = "FlotsamAssetCache"
[10:04] Mic Bowman: and the modules section?
[10:04] Rob Willis: Include-FlotsamCache = "config-include/FlotsamCache.ini"
[10:04] Rob Willis: DefaultAssetLoader = "OpenSim.Framework.AssetLoader.Filesystem.dll"
[10:05] Rob Willis: AssetLoaderArgs = "assets/AssetSets.xml"
[10:05] Mic Bowman: what are the values for AssetServices, InventoryServices, etc
[10:05] Mic Bowman: in the modules section
[10:06] Rob Willis: [AssetService]
[10:06] Rob Willis: DefaultAssetLoader = "OpenSim.Framework.AssetLoader.Filesystem.dll"
[10:06] Rob Willis: AssetLoaderArgs = "assets/AssetSets.xml"
[10:06] Mic Bowman: wrong section
[10:06] Rob Willis: AssetServerURI = "http://grid.sciencesim.com:8004/"
[10:06] Mic Bowman: [Modules]
[10:06] Rob Willis: [Modules]
[10:06] Rob Willis: AssetCaching = "FlotsamAssetCache"
[10:06] Rob Willis: Include-FlotsamCache = "config-include/FlotsamCache.ini"
[10:06] Rob Willis: thats it for modules
[10:06] Mic Bowman: should have AssetServices = 'ModeCableBeach.dll:AssetServiceConnector"
[10:07] Rob Willis: ok?
[10:07] Mic Bowman: look for [Modules]
[10:08] Mic Bowman: (its near the bottom of what i posted)
[10:08] Rob Willis: so 3 lines then?
[10:08] Rob Willis: assetcaching, include-floatsamcahce, and assetservices
[10:08] Mic Bowman: ?
[10:09] Rob Willis: i see it
[10:09] Rob Willis: but do i use all of that?
[10:09] Mic Bowman: see the modules section in what i posted.. there are a bunch of modules
[10:09] Mic Bowman: yes
[10:09] Mic Bowman: or something very like it
[10:09] Mic Bowman: that's where you configure the "protocols" for communicating with the grid
[10:10] Rob Willis: so i should also add gridservices, landserviceinconnector, neighbourservices, neighbourserviceinconnector, invtoryservices, and llproxyloginmodule?
[10:10] Mic Bowman: you need all of the modules correctly configured
[10:10] Mic Bowman: to connect to any grid
[10:11] Rob Willis: im waiting for a previous msg to appear here
[10:11] Mic Bowman: ?
[10:11] Rob Willis: there it is
[10:13] Mic Bowman: nice shirt doug
[10:13] Mic Bowman: it really works with the pants
[10:13] Doug Osborn: ya
[10:13] Mic Bowman: the fern regions look pretty good
[10:13] Doug Osborn: i just noticed that putting it on "bulks me up too ")
[10:13] Mic Bowman: there is a slide projector that you might want to pick up for the conference
[10:13] Doug Osborn: the one on the platofrm there?
[10:13] Mic Bowman: it pulls the slides off a web site rather than needing to upload them as textures
[10:14] Mic Bowman: yes
[10:14] Doug Osborn: i saw that in the senate room but i couldnt get the script
[10:14] Doug Osborn: thatnks
[10:14] Doug Osborn: nks
[10:14] Mic Bowman: if you can't mod that one... let me know & i'll just give you the scripts
[10:14] Doug Osborn: have you talked to shen this morning?
[10:15] Mic Bowman: the setup is harder than it looks
[10:15] Mic Bowman: just for a bit at the senate meeting
[10:15] Doug Osborn: the one you cgave me is no mod
[10:15] Mic Bowman: she said she needs to skip our call
[10:15] Mic Bowman: can you pull it out of that box?
[10:16] Doug Osborn: it let me buy it but my inventory is showing a "loading objects indicator and no inventory item
[10:16] Mic Bowman: permissions are totally broken right now
[10:16] Doug Osborn: well Thats not fun
[10:17] Mic Bowman: anything you & i need to talk about?
[10:17] Mic Bowman: do we need the call?
[10:17] Doug Osborn: shen gave me some textures to for the fern landss yesterday and they seemed to go into never never land but when i got here this morning they were backi :)
[10:18] Mic Bowman: ?
[10:18] Doug Osborn: No I think we are pretty current :)
[10:18] Mic Bowman: megaregions are very odd
[10:18] Doug Osborn: if theres anyhting you need for the ferms let me know
[10:18] Mic Bowman: some things work like expected and some dont
[10:18] Doug Osborn: ferns
[10:18] Mic Bowman: ok...
[10:18] Mic Bowman: thanks
[10:18] Mic Bowman: dan's building on xfern
[10:18] Rob Willis: brb
[10:18] Mic Bowman: i'm going to see what he's got going
[10:18] Doug Osborn: do you want me to dao a mantis on the terraforming issues there? there is a strip along each of the region boundries whree none of the terraforming tools works :(
[10:19] Doug Osborn: bye robert :) thanks for the minutes :)
[10:25] Rob Willis is Online
