[8:57] Lightswitch: lights on
[9:06] Robert Adams: hello aaron
[9:07] Aaron Duffy: Hi Robert
[9:07] Aaron Duffy: This region rezzed incredibly quickly this morning.
[9:07] Robert Adams: we're running with some of the performance patches
[9:07] Doug Osborn is Online
[9:08] Aaron Duffy: It is definitely an improvement over 2-3 weeks ago
[9:08] Aaron Duffy: Hi Doug
[9:08] Doug Osborn: aloha
[9:08] Robert Adams: and we have someone trying to get 100K ferns living... I beleive you're talking to Dan already
[9:08] Aaron Duffy: yep!
[9:09] Aaron Duffy: I saw he put a couple patches on the mantis from that already
[9:09] Robert Adams: hello Doug
[9:09] Doug Osborn: aloha :)
[9:09] Robert Adams: yes... he was up late last night and found some locking problems
[9:09] Robert Adams: memory next
[9:10] Doug Osborn: :)
[9:10] Robert Adams: we're having a sim load party this aftn at 1pm SLT
[9:10] Doug Osborn: :)
[9:10] Robert Adams: there is going to be a gathering in OSGrid::WrightPlaza...
[9:10] Robert Adams: then, at 1:30 we're moving to OSGrid:QuickSort
[9:11] Aaron Duffy: Ah okay. that part had me confused. I saw messages about two locations
[9:11] Robert Adams: QuickSort is running what we are hoping to make ScienceSim's "Stable" release
[9:11] Doug Osborn: :)
[9:11] Rob Willis is Online
[9:11] Aaron Duffy: And it is tied to OSGrid? Is it using cable beach?
[9:12] Robert Adams: not that one... but that will be configured when it goes to ScienceSim
[9:12] Doug Osborn: do you know when the last pull from the OPenSim repository was for that release??? is it still the mid Septemeber one?
[9:12] Robert Adams: all the OpenID stuff is planned to be working soon
[9:13] Robert Adams: well, it' is pretty recent... something in the last week
[9:13] Aaron Duffy: Hi Rob
[9:13] Rob Willis: hi
[9:13] Doug Osborn: john said 2 weeks for the google button on the OpenID login page so i havent been asking about it
[9:14] Aaron Duffy: I don't think you could connect to OSGrid with mid-semptember code. They've had mandatory upgrades since then
[9:14] Doug Osborn: but i've been able to login using my google openID authentication but doign the cut and paste
[9:14] Robert Adams: we're getting him back working for use soon here... he's been rewriting swathes of OpenSim the last week
[9:14] Doug Osborn: by doing*
[9:14] Doug Osborn: aloha rob
[9:14] Robert Adams: hello Rob
[9:14] Rob Willis: hi
[9:15] Robert Adams: we had planned on having a new ScienceSim version on Monday
[9:15] Robert Adams: we'll see how the test goes today
[9:15] Robert Adams: it's a protocol bump so all simulators will need to upgrade
[9:15] Doug Osborn: shen is on my case to get cable beach running on our test grid... but id like to not have to do 3 installs...
[9:16] Aaron Duffy: We need to start tagging these so we can refer to them easily (or maybe they are tagged and I just didn't notice)
[9:16] Doug Osborn: if the tests go well wihenb n do you think the "satable CB will be ready?
[9:16] Robert Adams: we've been doing some planning in that area
[9:17] Robert Adams: we are going to be a 'stable' version of OpenSim.... something like the fedora of OpenSim
[9:17] Aaron Duffy: can't we be the Ubuntu?
[9:17] Robert Adams: that will mean tagging and tracking and bug fixes but a focus on stable so applications can grow
[9:18] Robert Adams: that is better... no business hanging off
[9:18] Doug Osborn: :)
[9:18] Doug Osborn: we are just showing our age Robert :)
[9:19] Aaron Duffy: My first distro was Fedora
[9:19] Robert Adams: the powers-that-be are talking about creating a foundation or similar to support it
[9:19] Doug Osborn: I cant tell you how long my "secret question" was "What color is a fedora"
[9:19] Aaron Duffy: :>
[9:19] Robert Adams: LOL
[9:19] Robert Adams: yes... fedora was what everyone used for a while
[9:20] Robert Adams: I still have an old version running at home supporting the web camera
[9:20] Rob Willis: on topic of linux
[9:20] Rob Willis: i think a good idea would be to make available a VM with opensim installed
[9:21] Robert Adams: is there a specific vm format?
[9:21] Doug Osborn: so Robert.... if we are going to target stable....are we also going to target "platforms.????
[9:21] Rob Willis: i think vmware would be the target
[9:21] Robert Adams: good question
[9:21] Aaron Duffy: just having the right version of mono already there would make this an easier thing for people to get into
[9:22] Doug Osborn: Id hate to see the 64 bit stuff get lost in an attempt to "overdo" the stable :)
[9:22] Robert Adams: that's an arguement for the VM solution
[9:22] Robert Adams: until someone is paid to do it.. what we have will probably be minimal
[9:23] Robert Adams: but pulling together the whole environment (mono, ...) at least in clear documentation would be a start
[9:24] Robert Adams: OpenSim is currently running on Mono 2.4.2, but I think Mono itself is a few versions ahead
[9:24] Robert Adams: on the other hand, a lot of the stability problems the last week have been due to differences between .NET and Mono
[9:24] Doug Osborn: yes I have been running Mono 2.5
[9:25] Doug Osborn: but our "stable version of opensim is 6.5 and running Mono 2.01 just fine :)
[9:26] Robert Adams: what works... that's been a good combination
[9:26] Aaron Duffy: 6.5? Isn't that the OpenSim equivalent of Windows 3.1?
[9:26] Doug Osborn: yes its stays up for months as long as shen has stuff to break here :)
[9:26] Robert Adams: ah... thanks ;-)
[9:27] Robert Adams: we will be putting our sources on the http git repository
[9:27] Rob Willis: will it be announced?
[9:27] Rob Willis: or just put there
[9:28] Kite Hallison: hello everyone
[9:28] Robert Adams: there may be some branches... the there will be a 'stable' branch that get's cherry picked patches
[9:28] Doug Osborn: aloha kite
[9:28] Rob Willis: hi kite
[9:28] Robert Adams: hello Kite
[9:28] Aaron Duffy: Hi Kite
[9:29] Robert Adams: Kite, I was saying that we plan on upgrading the ScienceSim simulators next week. That will require everyone to upgrade
[9:29] Kite Hallison: everyone upgrade?
[9:30] Robert Adams: the protocol between simulators has changed... they call it a "protocol bump"
[9:30] Robert Adams: so we will supply new sources and people will need to upgrade their simulators
[9:32] Robert Adams: you can either use our sources or use the OpenSim main repository
[9:34] Kite Hallison: Hi Robert I can not to see you now. it is look like a smoke. what happen? I want to know this reason...
[9:35] Doug Osborn: yes robert is a cloud to me as well....it means you have not downloaded the textures to render him yet
[9:36] Robert Adams: Linden Labs changed the protocol for generating appearance -- the combination of textures to make your outfit was moved from the client to the server to limit stealing
[9:36] Robert Adams: ever since then, OpenSim and libomv have been trying to get it right so appearance will always resolve
[9:37] Robert Adams: at the moment, people often are unresolved.... and these days, rather than being Ruth, you are a cloud
[9:37] Aaron Duffy: +1 for a opensim specific viewer
[9:37] Doug Osborn: i prefer the cloud to ruthg :)
[9:37]  Doug Osborn: and ++1 for a real 64 bit one :)
[9:38] Robert Adams: I'll get LookingGlass usable yet
[9:38] Doug Osborn: :)
[9:38] Robert Adams: then i'm building my own IClient and protocol... LLLP is such a hassle
[9:38] Doug Osborn: I have to say the featureset of the lateat emerald realeases is extreemly nice :)
[9:39] Robert Adams: yes.. it's especially nice.... but the other viewers have nice features, too
[9:39] Doug Osborn: the radar and IRC chat features are amazing
[9:40] Aaron Duffy: I alternate between crashing Hippo or no map, but stable on Kirstens
[9:40] Doug Osborn: i always go back to hippo.... kinda the fedora of viewers... behind but works everywhere :)
[9:41] Robert Adams: I'm running Kristen's 211 at the moment... this lodge goes well with the shadows
[9:41] Doug Osborn: :)
[9:41] Doug Osborn: i love the shadows :)
[9:43] Robert Adams: I need to find someone who knows shader programming... if you run across someone, send them in LookingGlass's direction
[9:44] Kite Hallison: I want to resolve from smoking status. what should I do?
[9:45] Robert Adams: am I resolved?
[9:45] Aaron Duffy: not here
[9:45] Robert Adams: the solution is to first rebake your textures (typing Cntl-Alt-R)
[9:47] Robert Adams: if that doesn't work, re wear your outfit... have a full attire in your Clothing folder and right click and do a "Replace outfit"
[9:49] Aaron Duffy: I'm going to go do some other work. See you all later.
[9:49] Robert Adams: I did both... that usually fixes it... it might be my viewer
[9:49] Robert Adams: k... take care Aaron
[9:51] Robert Adams: we will be sending out email on the discuss list about upgrades and where to get sources
[9:51] Robert Adams: that should happen early next week
[9:54] Doug Osborn: :) Thanks Robert :)
[9:55] Robert Adams: I need to run to my next meeting
[9:55] Robert Adams: thanks all for coming
[9:55] Doug Osborn: aloha all :)
[9:56] Doug Osborn is Offline
[9:57] Kite Hallison: Ok bye.
[9:57] Robert Adams: bye Kite... hopefully appearances will get better with the new version
